You don't pay back a favor, you pay it forward. ~ Movie: Pay It Forward
Yesterday was International Pay It Forward Day. I hadn't planned on it, but as I began centering my yoga class last night, I had them pay attention to left and right sides of their bodies. The idea of left as feminine/receiving and right as masculine/giving came to mind, and I was reminded that it was Pay It Forward Day (I had heard about it from Facebook). The theme for the class quickly became giving/receiving and paying it forward.
What a great variation to the idea of re-gifting ;)
My paying it forward story from yesterday is this... I helped a lady carry some stuff she couldn't manage from her car to her apartment. I was immediately repaid by a helping hand as I carried things to my own car not ten minutes later. Love the way the Universe works :)
I'd like to keep the "ripple" going by offering a free, one hour, yoga therapy session to the first person to comment on this post and share a paying it forward story. The session will be held at either location of Kula Yoga , so the closer you live to Port Moody or Coquitlam, BC the better. The session will be focused on the left/right split and help you become aware of any differences that may be causing discomfort.
Definitely a core asset... paying it forward.

Well, while not the biggest deed of kindness...! was driving home on Thursday and had saved one of two of my mouth watering wrap. It was a sprouted grain wrap layered with organic yogurt spread, a sprinkling of dill, quinoa, juicy grilled chicken and a layer of tomatoes and romaine lettuce. I was anticipating getting home and eat it. I got to the lights on lougheed and North road and saw one the the window washing street kids, it was sunny and my window was clean but I could see him looking in hungrily in at my wrap. I was tempted to just give him my apple but felt he could use a good meal, so rather reluctantly gave him my wrap. I was all out of food and was wondering what I'd eat for dinner. It seemed carma was on my side because upon arriving home there were several bags of restaurant food on my front door. It turned out my neighbor had been given two orders of the same meal at the restaurant she ate at that night and wanted to do something nice for us. So it seems paying it forward really dose work :)

A little thing I like to do is when I am grocery shopping, if the person in line behind me only has a few items and I have a full cart, I will let them go ahead of me. It really doesn't cost me any time and they are usually so thankful. This has been paid back so many time to me that I almost do it without thinking now.
ReplyDeleteIt is a little thing to do, but I think that sometimes it is the little things that are the most important. A smile, a nod hello, a helping hand. A small thing to do, but something that can make a person's day.
Very good point and very thoughtful of you. Thanks for sharing.
